Η Αθηνά Παπαδάκη γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1945. Σπούδασε Πολιτικές Επιστήμες και εργάστηκε ως δημοσιογράφος. Υπήρξε παραγωγός της ραδιοφωνικής εκπομπής «Τα Παραμύθια μας», στην οποία τα παιδιά ήταν οι δημιουργοί των ιστοριών. Είναι μέλος της Εταιρείας Συγγραφέων και της ΕΣΗΕΑ. Τα ταξίδια της σε πολλές χώρες του κόσμου (Ασία, Ευρώπη, Αμερική, Αφρική) της προσέφεραν πολύτιμες εμπειρίες που διαμόρφωσαν την προσωπικότητά της και το έργο της ως δημιουργού. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε σημαντικά φεστιβάλ ποίησης διεθνώς (Κούβα, Κολομβία, Γαλλία, Αγγλία, Τουρκία, Δανία).Έχει εκδώσει δεκαπέντε ποιητικές συλλογές και δύο ανθολογίες του έργου της. Η δέκατη πέμπτη συλλογή της, με τίτλο Σκιά Ψυχής, εκδόθηκε το 2023 από τις Εκδόσεις Καστανιώτη. Επιπλέον, έχει δημοσιεύσει δύο συλλογές ποιητικών αφηγημάτων ιδιαίτερου θεματικού ενδιαφέροντος, καθώς και επτά βιβλία για παιδιά. Επιμελήθηκε τον τόμο: Σοφία Μαυροειδή Παπαδάκη: Ρωμαλέα και λυρική, Αθήνα, Ερμής, 1998. Το λογοτεχνικό της έργο περιλαμβάνει επίσης άρθρα, δοκίμια και βιβλιοκριτικές. Οι ποιητικές της συλλογές και τα ποιήματά της έχουν μεταφραστεί σε πολλές γλώσσες, μεταξύ των οποίων αγγλικά, γαλλικά, ρουμανικά, τουρκικά, αλβανικά, ισπανικά, ιταλικά, πολωνικά και Χίντι. Το βιβλίο της Με λύχνο και Λύκους βραβεύτηκε από την Ακαδημία Αθηνών το 2010, ενώ πρόσφατα τιμήθηκε «ως ποιήτρια και ως προσωπικότητα που έχει συμβάλει σημαντικά στη λογοτεχνία και τον πολιτισμό» από την Πανελλήνια Ένωση Λογοτεχνών.

Athina Papadaki was born in Athens in 1945. She studied political science and worked as a journalist; she was the producer of the radio program “Our Fairy Tales,” in which children were the creators of the stories. She is a member of the Society of Authors and the ESΗEA. Her travels to many countries around the world (Asia, Europe, America, Africa) provided her with valuable experiences that shaped her as a person and an artist. She has participated in major poetry festivals around the world (Cuba, Colombia, France, England, Turkey, Denmark). She has published fifteen poetry collections and two anthologies of her work. Her fifteenth collection, titled Shadow of the Soul, was published in 2023 by Kastaniotis Editions. In addition, she has published two collections of poetic narratives of particular thematic interest, as well as seven children’s books. She edited the volume: Sofia Mavroidi Papadaki; Romalea and Lyric, Athens, Hermes, 1998. Her literary work includes articles, essays, and book reviews. Her poetry collections and poems have been translated into English, French, Romanian, Turkish, Albanian, Spanish, Italian, Polish, and Hindi. Her book With a Lantern and Wolves was awarded by the Academy of Athens in 2010, and she was recently honored “as a poet and as a person who has made a significant contribution to literature and culture” by the Panhellenic Writers’ Union.
